local bike pics

Hey guys, i know i cant even come close to the images some of you guys take, wow!!, but im trying, would appreciate any c&c you can give me plese, thanks

lots of views but no c&c ??

Try setting your shutter speed higher and you will get some sharper pics. 1/160 was pretty low for me when I started. Depending on how fast the corner is you can still get some good blur.

Also I try and avoid stuff like the gaurd rail in pic #5 or clone them out in PP. Also some levels and sharpening helped it.

those are some real good shots mate...

personaly i would try and get a bit more space infront of the bike, showing that they have something to drive into sorta thing.....

but again real good shots, i hope i get the chance to get on to a major track and take some shots like these

ill give that a try at the next round in September, but as for the cloning job, that looks great, i didnt even consider doing that, have to give it a shot myself!! as for the levels and sharpening, i have a question on that for you, how do you go about playing with levels, ive done it, but ive never managed to get satisfactory results, whatver you did really gave some life and pop to that photo, but when i tried all i suceeded in doing was making it light or dark?? and help would be geatly apreaciated

I agree with the one, start with a higher shutter speed, then once you start getting sharp images practice with gradual slower shutter speeds. Start about 800 or so and work down with practice. Many may say thats to high but start there, if they are dead on then go slower...

If your goal is to kick a 50 yard field goal start out close and slowly back up as you get better....

Practice is big too, there is no substitute.... what lens are you using with the XTi and also the lower the ISO the better, do you shoot RAW or JPEG?

for all of these shots i was using a 100-400l lens i shoot raw mostly, sometimes though if im just shooting their qualifying ill shoot jpg

If I remember correctly I just moved the pointers under the curve. Really you just have to play with levels IMO.

well ill have to play with it to find out what turns out the best i may have moved the pointers too much, just came out blotchy looking when i tried it last, i have used it to lighten things up a little in the past though

How do you have your camera set up did you move the focus back to the * button? Also try shoot at 1/320 atleast. I hear you about trying to keep up with these guys some of them must have some damn good technique to get down below 1/160. Most of the stuff I shoot is at 1/200 so don't feel that bad it will come
