AKA Saddleback. Rare and protected small bird from Ulva Island, New Zealand. Lovely voice!

Very nice indeed. Is that some sort of bottlebrush plant? Just curious.

The bird is stunning...good job keeping the blacks with detail. Lovin' the orange on the wings.

Thanks! The tree is a blooming Southern Rata (Metrosideros Umbellata).

Yes, and I was lucky: I spent the whole day in Ulva Island and I saw no saddlebacks. Then I gave up and I went to the wharf of the aqua-taxi to go home. While I was awaiting fot the boat this nice bird arrived to have a lunch in a Rata tree just in front of me and it was so kind to give me enough time to unpack the 100-400 and take some shots.
