Great work, Mike. Nice write up and looks like the Bigmos is certainly delivering the goods, especially considering its price-point.
BTW, how was the battery life for you since you used the OS a lot? Any issues there?
Thanks Jojo. Battery life was fine. I started with two previously used batteries (but still full) in my grip and they still show full capacity, even after switching to the 30D after half of the practice.

Did you see my post over in RRTP where one of our local group members was denied access to the Chargers training camp because he was carrying a 100-400? They said no long "professional" lenses... Here's his post in our forum:

Just another example of the arrogance of the Chargers management, who are currently trying to extort a new stadium out of the region. I just wish they'd up and leave once and for all...
Nope, I sure didn't. But every organization has their own set of rules. Nobody said a single thing to me the entire time.

How come you were using OS? Why not up the ISO to around 800 and get shutter speeds around 1600 to 2000 to stop action and with the OS off you won't get "blurry" shots from the OS kicking in.
You were shooting at times at 1/800th.
Why not? Seriously this is one of the things that each new piece of gear brings to us, a learning curve. As I mentioned before I have yet to use an IS/OS lens other than a 100-400 I rented last year for an airshow and I have never used one with a monopod. So I had to learn the pros and cons of doing so.
1/800th shutter speed was not the issue here. On a monopod, even without OS, 1/800th should reveal sharp shots. There is no real need to go to 1/1600 or 1/2000 for sports IMO. So why take the increase in noise, larger files, and decreased dynamic range, even with today's good sensors, when you don't have to. Next time I will try the lens on a pod with the OS off to see how it fairs, but should I use the OS I know that I just have to give it a sec to lock on. For lots of things this won't work, but if I know it before hand I can adjust.
