We had gone for a day trip today and my sweetie surprised me by taking a little detour to go by the house that "A Christmas Story" was filmed in. I LOVE that movie! (he hates the movie and was hungry so we didn't spend very much time there) It's located in Cleveland OH - which was about a 2 hour drive from home - now that I know where it is maybe I'll have to take a trip with some of my other family who truly appreciate the movie to check out the tour they offer.

So anyways - here is a quick picture of the famous leg lamp. I didn't care for the way any of my pics turned out because it was probably almost 7 and the sun was setting - it was pretty bright on the porch and made the trees reflect in the window. Just wanted to share it though - hopefully it brings back as many good memories to you as it does me :) (or am I the only one that watches the movie a hundred times around christmas? hahaha)

I haven't seen the movie, so it doesn't have any special significance. Nice shot though.

Oh, and you can use a CPL to kill reflections.

I remember reading awhile back that someone had bought it and restored it to a museum. Just didn't realize how close it was to me. They have a web page with a lot of the remodel pictures and such - http://achristmasstoryhouse.com (external link)

Its your lucky day! haha you can get one off their web page - you can even get one with the big wooden crate! But would you proudly display it in the front window?!

Since it was so bright outside still, you could just barely tell, but both the leg lamp and the christmas tree in another window were lit up. Would have made a nice shot after dark :)

Thanks :) One of my favorites too. No set in california could compare to the real snow! I would love to actually see it in the winter.
After we got home I was checking their web page out and was pretty bummed to see you cant take any type of pictures inside so looks like you'll have to get your own lamp and then you can touch it and photograph it all you want :)

Nevermind :) Just searched for CPL. I actually did have polarizer filter on my other lense - wish I would have thought to try it. My hubby wasn't too keen on the neighborhood though so he was really rushing me :(

"F-R-A-G-I-L-E! It must be Italian!!"

Ah, yes, the soft glow of electric sex gleaming from the window...

I love that movie and my wife and I visited the house a couple of years ago while visiting Cleveland. Great time, even if we didn't see Black Bart and his gang. :)

Thanks for looking :)

On my way to work I pass this older brick house. It has a big bay window in front and has this ugly old lamp in the window - I wouldn't call it a tiffany lamp but I'm not really sure how else to describe it other than just ugly. But it always makes me think of the christmas story movie. Obviously they are pretty proud of that ugly lamp and want everyone to see it just like the old man was proud of his leg lamp! haha
