Another first for me....alot of out of focus shots and ahots with the riders heads missing. Here are some of the ones that worked...and "Chris" aren't too dark.
C&C more than welcome.

#2 would have been my choice if it wasn't for the two people in the background. This is awesome for a first attempt.

I prefer #3. The first 2 have too much profile for my liking. But then, I don't know much about show jumping photos. Is profile the usual standard?

Thanks everyone for your input....I'm use to shooting a fast paced sport like hockey this was my hardest shoot yet.

They are usually used to keep the flies away from their ears and distracting them, or they may put cotton in their ears to keep the noise from distracting the horse and the covers keep the cotton in.

I like #3 even though her face is shadowed a little. The rider looks cool and calm on that horse since she's already spotting her next jump while in the middle of the current one. Great shots.

First shot is too late with the legs dropping down, second is bang on and the third is too late.

Colours are really nice and vivid and clean backgrounds too.

Sorry if its a bit harsh but I do this for a living :)

It's interesting, 1 is too late conventionally but for some reason for me it works quite well especially with that pp.

to 22littlereasons as a rider I generally prefer the profile ones, those are the ones that I buy of me and my horse.

Very nice series for a 1st timer.

Nice colours, good exposures and with good pp on them.

I agree with borderfox about the slightly late timing on #1 and 3.

No your comments are on the mark...if you do this for a living than I bow to you. So many of my shots were out of focus. If I was shooting this for my Newspaper my editor would have freaked. thanks

Yep I noticed on alot of the photos they were looking one jump ahead....I also noticed that the one rider that didn't look ahead went to the jump off.

A couple more...and about 30 out of focus.
