I soon will buy a Canon 40D even though im lowbie knowledge about it. Do you guy have any tips how to perform a test out that it is a flawless Camera without any defective? Like the sound that it make or dead pixie on LCD or Coler correction? Do you think latest firmware solve the problem?

I need some advice about which memory I should get, like which brand? When I check out a brand name ScanDisk and it have Extreme and Ultra I dont know which to get:
ScanDisk - Extreme III
ScanDisk - Ultra II
Im buying this camera for a vacation going back to my country and took some picture do you prefer I should buy 2x 2GB to make sure if one memory got defective or 1x4GB Memory?

unixsac,
Welcome to the POTN forum :)

When you get you camera just use it as you intend to and you should see if there are any problems with it. I haven't had any problems with mine with months of usage. ;)

As for memory cards, I personally use SanDisk Ultra II cards and have no problems at all with any of my cameras, but Ultra II or Extreme III will both work with your 40D. I also agree with having two 2.0gb cards is better then one 4.0gb card.

Enjoy your new camera :)

Calumet Photographic has a special on 2GB SanDisk Ultra II CF cards right now: 2 for $29.99, which is a pretty good deal. If you're worried about your cards failing, after you've filled out the card, find a photo lab that can make a CD backup for you. I personally haven't experienced a failed card, but you just never know. Don't forget to get a couple extra batteries as well. Sterlingtek is highly recommended here.

I think you shouldn't worry about the camera not performing all it's functions out of the box. Mine had the latest firmware, and it's still working perfectly.

I have a pair of Sandisk 2GB Ultra II's and an 8GB Extreme III with the 40D. The only difference I can notice is the extra capacity of the 8 GB.
