I am going to purchase another Extreme111 card and was wondering if it was smarter to go with several small cards vs one large card. If so what is your reason.

Thanks timbo76

Which camera are you shooting and do you use RAW, JPG or both?

I'd get 4G personally for either my 20D or my 1D, I find 2G a bit small when shooting raw.

Shooting with 40D. I am a novice and am just starting to use RAW. I have found that RAW is larger but produces a much better photo.

When I could get 200 RAW shots on a 2GB card with the XTi, that was my card of choice. Now, with the 40D, the same 2GB card can only hold 152 RAW shots (I think it's because of the 14-bit processing). Anyways, people are obviously going to have different opinions on this, but my opinion is to stick with the smaller cards. My reasoning for this is because if I have a card go bad on a vacation or on a weekend pleasure shoot, I'm only out that amount of pics. I haven't had any go bad on me, so I really can't tell you how my theory holds up, but it makes me feel better. :)

By the way, I've now picked up three more SanDisk Extreme IV 4GB cards because of the rebate. On this new SanDisk promotion, the Extreme IV cards have a better rebate amount than the Extreme IIIs do. Just something to consider if you're going for the Extreme III. Here's the link to the form:

Best of luck to you!

Yep. Any more and you have to fuss about divvying up the files and trying to not miss any while not duplicating any.
