Just cancelled an order with them. I thought to check their reputation on this board AFTER I placed an order, but before I got the email requesting I call to confirm, so I was prepared for their run-around when I called. I'm relatively un-educated when it comes to lens options, so when they started asking questions that sounded fishy to me I just cancelled. Question that got me was "Do you want that lens with the plastic mount, or the metal mount?" Maybe It's my inexperience showing, but isn't that integrated onto the lens? And isn't it metal by default?? This would be Canon's 70-300mm f/4-5.6 EF IS USM lens. If it's the piece that connects to the camera that I think it is, it only comes in metal, right? Anyway, I just ordered it from B&H instead. I wasn't confidant Sonic would ever actually let the lens out their door at the price they advertised.

as far as i know, canon doesnt offer lenses with plastic mounts, other than the 50mm 1.8 for $90 range.

its a bait and switch, theyll sell you the metal mount for $40 more, when theres no such thing as the one with plastic mount, if you deny the metal mount, they will say that the plastic one is out of stock and your order gets placed on backorder.

That's pretty much what my gut told me. Precisely why I cancelled. Now just hoping they don't do anything underhanded with my credit card info.

If you don't mind the trouble, it would probably be safest to cancel the card number. There are reports that the shady dealers still charge the cards even if you cancelled.
