this is a shot i just snapped quickly because for a change my dog wasn't being camera shy.

please pay no attention to the mess in the background and his mucky face :rolleyes:

again this was just a snap and just experimenting with my camera for the first day :lol:

Since I can't comment on the messy background, the table with the can of pepsi in the way or the jacket or something in front of him the rest looks ok.

It's my feeling that you want my comment about the technical quality that your new camera can produce.

I think you've captured a very captivating face. Crop it tight and absolute blur the remaining background and you'll have a nice piece of art. I don't think it has much chance as a portrait because it has no eyes, but as you mentioned it's a snapshot--and let me add that it could be a really nice image with the correct crop and background work.

Some of us are of the notion (me for one) that the post processing can be as much a part of photography as pressing the shutter button.
