Just a simple grab of some flowers at a recent family party... C&C Welcome!

There is nothing wrong with a simple grab, so long as you either get very lucky OR you have taken the trouble to previously set all of the usual concerns, such as exposure, best guess focal distance, etc.

I don't know which way you tried to attack this one, but it failed entirely due to the background. Had the image been skillfully cropped so that we did not see the background, it would have made a dramatic difference, as follows:

I think it needs a couple of bright blooms that are the focal point... nice pic though. How would it look if you saturated it just a touch more?

Thanks for the tip, Bob...after seeing your crop, it certainly does help the image! I'll have to take a whack at reediting...
