I can't believe what I'm reading....We're Talking Bugs....and you'll are worried about their quality of life.

Time for a reality check...we pay for assisted suicide and your worried about bugs.

When's the last time you had a Big Mac or Whopper?

Last time I checked they weren't on any endangered species list.

Any you folks take pictures in a zoo?

Get a gripe on it folks. Knock, knock...is anybody home up there?

back in middle school computer class we did some photography for a cover on something, using some weird digital cameras, like oversized p&s, the size of a 1D with a huge screen and liveview, back about 7 years ago...

long story short we could only go around the middleschool to take the pictures and outside, i went up a stairset that leads to the balcony of the auditorium, the side no one uses much, and then theres a secret room on the next floor that no one knows about really..

long story shorter, i found a dead cochroach with webs on it, got 2nd place from the picture :D

i made sure to get as close as possible so the dead bug was as big as i could fit on there

13 years?

If it can be avoided, and I can't think of any case where it couldn't be, there is no reason to kill your subject. Though I think macro photographers have a deeper appreciation/respect of their subjects than those focused on the comparatively larger scale.

I'll refrain from insulting your views in the fashion you decided to employ here, though. Just remember, others don't view the world in the same light as you.

On topic, the only dead anything I've had a chance to take pictures of were surgical in nature, or captured prey of other animals.

I've heard you can put bees in the freezer - they go to sleep then you tie thread around one of their legs. When they wake up - hey presto! pet bee flying around... you can take it to the park, teach it to fetch, play dead, roll over. They make good guard bees too. Man, can't wait to get me a pet bee ;)

Let's get back on topic. Please refrain from voicing your individual opinions of humane vs. inhumane behavior towards your subjects. Just post shots if you've taken them, of the dead. Whether it be based on intent, or a natural course.

Ridebmx...I liked your shorter version of the story . All things in nature pass, so your creativity paid off. It's almost as if you glorified/buried it's soul. Karma has a circular nature.

Actually, the voiced opinions of humane/inhumane treatment of your subjects are 100% valid. If you have a problem with the posts, report them to a mod.

No, no issues here. I'm on the side that takes pictures of live insects, for macro shots. Some may object though, so, feel free to report as necessary.
