I usually only go to events where my friend has his daughters competing in and shoot for their teams. But if I were, and I am contemplating this, going to go shoot where I had no participant or direct interest in shooting other than for practice I would hand out my card to any parent questioning my shooting and would invite them to email me and I would post the pictures in a password required section of my site for them to look at and hopefully purchase. I'd also hand them 10+ cards to give to the other parents and tell her to pass the word as to them being secured in a password required section and available to purchase if they see anything they like.
I do agree that I might talk to the coaches or event supervisor before shooting but I really doubt that since there are usually multiple games going on and that's a lot of coaches to talk to(see:annoy).

I totally disagree with voluntarily putting a password on a sports gallery. I've never done it and I've never been asked to do it. I reserve password protection for my private sessions.

I've also found that the younger the athlete the more likely the parents are to buy the photos. The parents love to show off the athletic talents of their kids to relatives and co-workers. Adults don't buy near as many photos of themselves as they do of their children.

Let me defend this woman.. When I worked for a newspaper I was assigned to shoot kids at a daycare centre for a childcare advertorial.. I had a great time with the kids aged from 2 to 5 rattling off around 100 exposures.. We ran 4 pics one ran 1/2 page.. In one of the pics was a little girl.. When her mum saw this pic she threatened to sue the newspaper because we printed a pic of her daughter without her permission.. It so happened this woman had taken her daughter interstate to escape an abusive husband.. We had permission from the owners to shoot on their property and everything was handled out of court.. Anytime we shot kids under 18 we sought permission from the parents from then on.. BTW,,this happened about 10 years ago..

Why?

More traffic browsing the galleries which results in more sales. Much of my advertising is word of mouth and passwords hamper that. People have enough trouble remembering their own passwords that I have them choose for their private sessions let alone trying to remember a game password. Kids browse through the games and will let their friends know if their photos are there.

I could come up with more reasons if I thought about it long enough. The bottom line is that it would hurt sales without providing any benefit.

I don't do passwords either. I just don't publish the proofing galleries and people who should know are given a direct link only to the gallery that applies to them. The links are simple to make them as easy to remember as possible.

This is way OT but sometimes I can't take you seriously. Like today, I just watch "America's Got Talent" and with your s/n I can't help but laugh and picture you wearing some ridiculous outfit acting like you can actually sing when we're all know you're a wash up from Baywatch, no pun intended. :p

I just keep laughing. Good think your Flickr shows otherwise. ;)

Every corner of Arizona, USofA? Sure...
Oh please...

Like most people are even aware that they have a choice...you mean between dog crap and cat crap? ;)

Oh Please...

Fear cannot be caused externally. You can be told to be afraid but you'll only actually BE afraid if you choose to be.

I see just about every corner of the USofA traveling for work and if there's fear out there, it sure as hell isn't showing. Frankly (if we're gonna go there) it's a lot more like September 10th than September 12th...
