I've seen Sekonic is made from the Phillippines and not from Japan. How's the realibility and quality?

From my own experience I can tell you that the L-358, L-558R and L-758DR are all extremely well built. Nothing flimsy or cheap about them. Solid meters and they will take a beating.

I have the L-358 and the L-758DR and both are built extremely nice and work impressively well. Sekonic makes a very good product in these two meters. Thats the reason they are the most popular meters to date.

i gotta tell you that i've beat the crap out of my 758. i've dropped it quite a few times now really hard onto concrete. meter still functions flawlessly and just has a few nicks on the body. love it.

I don't beat the crap out of mine but it takes a reasonable amount of abuse when I have it on location. I don't baby it either. Rock solid unit!

Yea, not anymore. These days they're the only ones making anything of quality!

It sure does Dave ;) - I still use my Sekonic L-398 that I bought in 1979. I actually own an earlier version of it too. They still work perfectly. Far as I'm concerned Sekonic makes great stuff.

It was pointed out to me a while back that my Canon 300D was made in Taiwan and my 20D (the good stuff) was made in Japan....

Evidently Canon has shifted manufacture to Japan. The XTi and the 40D are both made there.
