There are some excellent full-size tripods available that are durable and light weight.....and there are some very compact travel tripods that can holda full-size body, most hand-holdable pro lenses and be stuffed in your waist pack as you travel. - Fish

I'd prefer the small one and weight less than 3lbs.The tripod should be able to hold a load of 10lbs.

More info | Jul 31, 2008 22:24 | #8 I looked at the Gitzo options and found them out of my budget; I then found Feisol's range of tripods and now own the CT-3442 and Markins M-10 ballhead. Fantastic combination - the tripod goes to above my head height with no column extension (I'm 172cm tall though, so not a giant) and weighs 1kg and <19" folded, including head. Just doesnt fold down as small or hold as much weight. If those arent a big deal then this is a VERY cool setup! [Gear List | Flickr

Strapped to my Gregory Z30 pack you hardly knew it was there. I've been quite pleased at its stability for such a compact setup as it holds the 40D and 70-200 f/4L with ease.
