Which text book for a college DP course?

I'm signed up to teach Digital Photography 1 (or maybe 2) this fall through my local JC. I taught 1 last sprint and used their default book, Real World Digital Photography. It sucked as a text book. This time I plan to use Understand Exposure but for the Digital Photography 2 course I'd also like a good reference book. Something that is a college-level text for a college level course.

Recommendations?

If you really are looking for a college level text book... Text books are quite different from professional development books, or self-teaching books. I'd check with some of the publisher of other arts text books used by the college to find out what their photography offering are. For example, http://www.mypearsonst​ore.ca/bookstore/brows​e.asp?st=62003. Your department can often get a review copy for free to look over.

On the other hand, you may be too late for this semester. In my experience orders need to be in fairly early to be available for the start of class.

As an alternative, I'm sure you could easily put together a collection of assigned readings from around the net.

might work for a digital photography 2 book. It has nothing to do with digital, but a lot to do with photography...and it is really cool.

I took two courses at our local community college two years ago. The teacher didn't insist we buy the books, but suggested as reference "Digital Photography" 2nd edition by Eismann, Duggan and Grey.

Eismann and Duggan came out with a new book (as of last December) called "The Creative Digital Darkroom", which I've enjoyed as well - it mainly deals with Photoshop work and I'm still working with it.
