An article about a new version of Picasa, a photo organizing and editing product now owned by Google:

Some think it can give PS Elements and Kodak EasyShare some competition at the low end.

The Canon connection? The founder of Picasa calls his 20D his favorite camera...

Have Fun,

I've just downloaded and installed Picasa version 2 to see if it's useful for organizing photos. I miss a program that can organize photos and show me an overview with thumbnails. OK, Canon ZoomBrowser EX can do this, but I'm looking for something with more features, for example searching photos by keyword.

Picasa 2 does support RAW files, it sees all my 10D CRW files.

Is anybody else using Picasa? Is it useful?

I've just downloaded and installed it. First time you run Picasa, it scans all your hard drives and builds catalog of all your images, organized per year. I haven't gotten further yet, but it seems like a very nice program (it's getting even nicer when you consider the price) ;)

Best wishes,
Oleg.

I use iMatch for catalogging. It may be overkill for many people but I like it's databasing and programming abilities.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

I had used PICASA 1.6 for a while, it was ok just to go look at my stuff.

NOW I HAVE V2!!!

WOW this is great, I can do simple edits (to see if I actually like the look and if so I do them in PS) You can have it manage a Screensaver w/folder etc. It makes collages. yada yada yada

I am very impressed w/ v2
