haha... hmmm, which would be heavier, 15 pounds of sand or 15 pound of bird seed?

.

I prefer water. :) and if it is between sand and water, Sand is heavier. You have to pack it in to where you are shooting and out, water you can dump out and it is much lighter on the way out. :)

If there is water where you're going. If not, then what?

I still prefer sandbags. I pack it with rocks in plastic bags. I can change the weight and I can make my decision about what to trek with me once I'm at the location.

I've just come to accept that I come and go with the same amount of gear. No biggie.

Anyway, I went out and purchased two all weather 15lb sandbags to prevent this from happening again. The 15lb bags were $30/each which I thought was quite expensive, but the other option was 5lb bags which were $25/each and I would have wanted at least four of the 5lb bags which would given me 2/3 the weight for about twice the cost.

I have some of the Amvona sandbags. They are currently $18 for a pair. Bring your own sand, of course...

Sand is messy and if you have a tear or spill it sucks. I use rocks and recommend it. Rocks, gravel, pebbles.. any of them are better than sand. My nickel's worth.

Actually I start out with full water jugs and then dump them right before I carry things out. Most of the time I don't start with empty jugs, but either way it is all good. :)

I have both sandbags and Wally-World 10lb weights. All but one sandbag stays at home now and the Wally-World ankle weights got along. Clean, waterproof (designed to repel sweat) easy to lighten by removing tubes if needed and they wrap around anything. My one sandbag is supposed to be a 2lb-er by volume. It's a 10lb-er filled with BB's. Clean and no worry if they get wet.

You don't take a photograph. You ask, quietly, to borrow it.
