Just diving into off camera flash and wondering if my old Vivitar 2800_D willbe up to the task. I have a 430EX as well but looking to keep that on my bracket. I just got some wireless ebay triggers that work well but I am limited to Full power with the Vivitar flash on manual, non adjustable.

So, if I hook it up to an umbrella on a stand, could I still get good results? If its too hot, can I just move the flash back from the subject?

Thoughts?

Move the flash.

Adjust the aperture.

Adjust the ISO.

Add light modifiers (like neutral density filters).

All will effectively control flash exposure.

Enjoy! Lon
