Hi all I'm thinking of buying a Remote/Timer shutter for my 40D, is there any adapter that converts the connector to a 400D? Somthing like a TC-80N3 to RS-60E3 adapter?

Somthing like a TC-80N3 to RS-60E3 adapter? I'm not sure what size stereo plug the 400D uses (the micro-phone plug?) but if you can find out and get a jack and plug for it, you can cut the wire 2/3 or 3/4 of the way down towards the N3 plug end and then solder the plug on the remote switch end and the jack on the N3 terminal end. When you need to use the remote with the 400D, just unplug the N3 end and plug the remote into the 400D. ...Leo

But the live view feature on the 40D is WHY I bought the camera instead of the competing Nikon. Fantastic some stuff and lots of fun! INSANE GEAR LIST

You could load the EOS Utility on it and control the camera remotely. The range would be that of a Normal wireless 802.11g. Probably even use live view on your handheld. Now that would be cool. You can get the remote for the 40D, and mini stereo extension cable will allow same remote to control the 400D. 5D, 24-105L, 70-200L IS, 85mm Art, Godox
