Hi, I have a brand new 5D. I have taken a few shots and then tried to transfer them to my computer with the CF card.
A few of the photographs have transferred fine. However with most of them I get the following error message;

"Photo Gallery can't open this picture or video. This file format is not supported, or you don't have the latest updates to Photo Gallery."

I have formatted the CF card and there are no problem viewing the few photo's that have transferred successfully.

Any thoughts?

Are you shooting in RAW or JPEG format? If RAW then you need the correct software. Try a card reader to download the photos and view them in windows.Try another CF card - reset camera settings. If this doesn't work then have someone with camera knowledge physically look at it - could be several different problems.

cam may be set to raw and when you shoop in P or green box, it switches to jpeg. in Av and Tv it'll shoot in raw.
