What camera? Ever used it? What did you think about it?

Can someone explain to me what is the real advantage of RF? I don't buy the simplicity thing, because you can always just use 5D and 35L. Or even XS*+24L for small size. I don't it is still larger than RF, but probably not by much.

Don't think so:
The 24L:
Maximum Diameter x Length (mm): 72 X 86
Weight (g): 580
The Leica M8 (body only)
Dimensions (W x H x D)
Weight without battery
approx.139 x 80 x 37 mm
approx. 545 g

it is more like a hobie of owning it.

As is the case with a lot of Canon cameras I'd guess...
So?
Advantages (IMO)
- You see what's outside the frame, or about to walk in

- The shutter is nearly silent (less so on an M8, more so on an M6)
- Non retrofocus wide angles; better IQ
- Able to focus fast in near dark
- Forces you to think different (since you see the whole image in focus)
Explaining the last one:
With an SLR, you look through the lens, with the aperture wide open. So you see a very narrow DoF, even if the aperture is stopped way down.
A rangefinder is the other way around: You see everything sharp, even if you shoot fully opened, with a very narrow DoF.
IMO a rangefinder is a joy to shoot, but it is not for every job.
Bottom line I think: YMMV.
