Noticed the same thing. For the lenses I was looking at, I think most of them were included in the recent rebate and they got cleaned out.

I'd be very happy if Swedish shops ever had 50% in stock, it's more like 5% ...

maybe my prediction is coming true earlier than I thought. Canon is replacing their whole line with IS versions at no extra cost (or very little) in answer to the in-body IS cameras. This would kill the only thing Sony, Olympus, Pentax et al. have going for them (other than pricing and Sony's better live-view) Of course they need to sell through as many of the old lenses as they can before this as it will make them clearance items instantly.

Really, just imagine the look on the Faces of Sony's Marketing people when Canon announces that their entire line-up has the superior in-lens IS system.

Rebel XTi, 430ex, Tammy 28-75, nifty fifty, kit lens, tons of reading, not enough practice, and two gorgeous subjects (my kiddies)

I think this is at least partly caused by the holiday season. A lot of photographic gear is bought by people just before they go on holidays, the people in the factories go on vacation as well, and many of Canon's lenses are made in batches on the same manufacturing lines. Some of their lenses only have 1 batch a year, I understand (some of the L-lenses), IOW, all of the lenses produced of such a model have to cover the sales of that lens for a whole year.

Considering that they went from 20 million to 30 million EF lenses sold in just a few years time, production capacity may have to do with this as well.

Kind regards, Wim

Just the end of the rebate so I think there was a flurry of lens buying activity.
