Personally, I'd rather see some of the images here?

So would I but try as I did they still didn't come up on the site. I did the very same for 3 different images, one appeared but the other 2 didn't. I'll be more than happy to try to upload more this evening. Larry.

You've got some good shots there Larry. I've gotten into a little R/C photography. A friend of mine is one of the guys at All Things That Fly and asks me to come shoot some events just for fun. There are no official photographers at most of these events.

For anyone that hasn't shot R/C, it can be challenging but it's a lot of fun. If you can get a pilot that works with you, the results can be quite nice. I've even shot some night flights which gives some interesting results.

My Aeronautical Shots

Sp00ks, thanks for the kind words. You are right on about the lack of photographers with the right equipment showing up. I attended my first event 5 or 6 weeks ago and on the day I was there I was the only one with really good equipment that I saw. One of the event organizers gave me better access than the general crowd, and I sent the link to my albums in return. He was very pleased and I then offered the club the originals for any club use, plus so members could have a decent "in air" shot of their plane. That led to an invitation to the event now listed in my thread.
I did build & fly R/C a long time ago so did have basic knowledge of most aspects of the hobby, but had no idea that the jet engines existed, but I sure am intrigued by them & the planes they power. I really enjoyed my time watching & photographing them and will look for more opportunities. Again I have sent links to the clubs and hope their members like what they see, and last night I even discovered that one of the event sponsors is a former employer that I do business with on a regular basis, so have sent them a link too.
I am going to attempt to add a few more photos now, so here's hoping. Larry.
Well in 2 tries everything shows up as working until I hit the send button, but it doesn't appear in the message. I'm going to try using a different computer in case it's one of the different security programs on my computer blocking it.

Well after several tries I might have found my problem, and it's the way I was doing it on some but not all attempts.

I loved the series of the jet with the landing gear coming off. I too dabbled in R/C many moons ago. I can only afford one fetish and I've chosen photography. I do have an electric slow stick but I've flown it once and the outcome wasn't that impressive

I'm hoping to try shooting a model helicopter event this Sat, weather permitting, which should be equally as interesting, but I don't think it will overtax my panning skills, which still need work. It's been 25 or so years since watching one of them fly so if the modernization of them has matched the fixed wing progress I'm going to have fun.

Ha! Those guys get crazy with the Helli's. They are not predictable at all and you may find it more challenging that the airplanes.

Agreed, the flight path of a fixed wing plane is slightly predictable but a chopper could do just about anything suddenly. It will be very interesting to see what things they do to demonstrate their flying skills, and since the mechanical systems used to fly them are foreign to me I intend to try to shoot as many macro shots or close ups as I can to get to explain the inner workings of what makes them fly. I think I'll even need to take a tripod for this shoot. I just hope the weather co operates, which this summer is a big problem.
I finally had time to check your photos (which I fully enjoyed) and the plane I was flying for several years before moving to other things was very similar to that Super Buccaneer, and I think it may even have been called a Buccaneer. I scratch built if from plans in a modeler magazine and I believe it was a model that was a free flight way back in the early days of miniture gas engines.

Thanks for the comment cicopo. I stick built a trainer and biplane which I can't remember the name of, both gas. I silk covered the biplane and did a dual pipe exhaust exiting under the front cowl. I never flew the biplane sadly.

Silk, that's old school, but I prefered it to Monokote. Sounds like the both of us have inhaled a few toxic fumes from the dope used to shrink & strengthen it. Is it the Biplane in your photos? If so it looks really nice. I still have a rather large R/C glider that I never worked up the courage to fly. I'd need to buy a modern radio system for it, but otherwise it's ready to go.
