 Well here we go again….
I must be the all time winner in who has had the most images stolen….I was going through some images submitted to www.paintballphotography.com (external link) my from a paintball event in Guatemala and I noticed one of my images being used by the Central American Professional Paintball League on their banner.

I have been through this before with the NPPL (National Professional Paintball League) but these guys are in Central America so there is not much I can do….

Oh Gary, oh Gary.

Maybe if you didn't take desirable images they wouldn't keep getting stolen.

But, you will not get money out of them, I mean, they are still using a gmail address on their banner. And judging by their website, my guess is that its not even worth pursuing legally. Just be your nice self and send an invoice with copies of your proof of the stolen image.

Much larger copyright on your images. That is an awesome shot, they are using it for advertising. I'd want some money.

Well, if they have an ad with that photo in a publication you can buy it in NYC, you can still sue them. I would also check with the guatamali law to see if they adhere to the international copyright laws. Unlike NPPA, you really could care less if these guys never ask you to shoot for them right?

I'm with Fury...

If I were doing such nice work, I know I'd float a very large © over the whole image (tastefully done, of course) but I wouldn't make it so easy to just do a crop n swipe.

That is totally unacceptable. I would still pursue and find out what can be done.

That really sucks. Shoot them off an e-mail and see what happens. I think the copyright across the whole image idea is a good path to take from now on. You're images are really great and you deserve paying for them.

Btw gary, before I forget. The wristbands are very easy to get off and on. Get a PC Sync cord for flashes and break of the center pin. Stick it in the hole on the button of the bracelet and it will come off. Put it back on the next day.

That sucks that people have to go to that level and make it hard for people to enjoy the picture, but you gotta protect yourself I suppose. Good luck.

Definitely agree with a bigger copyright. I remember seeing your other image that was stolen.

If they can afford a banner that size they can afford to pay you your going rate. Those banners arent cheap. Thats one hell of a shot (pun intended). Great work.

It says professional on their banner, so surely they are regulated or owned by somebody? I hope you get reimbursed for this.

Banner looks pretty professional, maybe they hired an advertising agency to do this.
Call the league and say you saw this cool banner and you were interested in which agency designed it.
