was it taken from a public place or you got a media accreditation?

NFI - These were all taken from the public areas - although I did use a stepladder to get enought height to shoot over the fence for all of these apart from the last two.

why i didn't know that place?? it should be after surtees right? gotta try to take out some shoots there tomorrow

Ahh you were one of the guys with a ladder... always makes me chuckle - but it certainly does get you over the fence and at somewhere like the exit of Surtees that would really open up some possibilities. I'm not that tall but with the aid of tip-toes lol I was able to get through a gap in the wires to shoot what I did from there yesterday, only down side was nasty background. A step ladder where I was would've been perfect - even better angle than being in-front of the fence IMO!

As for your shots I like that you've got more than 1 bike in many of them - even though it wasn't a raceday I still like to see that. Of the bunch I like #3 best

I checked out the exif on a couple and I think you maybe could've dropped your shutter speed a tadge. 1/1250 is a bit too safe IMO, maybe you could've used between 1/800 and 1/500 - still been safe but shown a bit more motion in the wheels and background. Also do you sharpen your images before posting, they look very sharp, possibly even too sharp on my monitor (mainly #2, #3, #4, #5 & #6). That's my opinions anyway, since you asked

What lens were you using, a 300 prime?

I agree with you on the shutter speed - I wanted to get as many keepers as possible and played it safe with a high speed. I would have like to have got a bit more blur in the brake discs and tyres, but I'm pretty happy with what I did get as that stepladder wasn't the most stable thing to stand on! 500 to 800 is fair coment!

I did sharpen these a stop in Digital Photo Professional and now I'm looking at them on a different screen I can see your point.

Not so much luck to have a 300 prime! These were all taken with a 400d and a 70-300 f4-5.6 IS. I was next to a bloke with a 300 prime though.

Whilst snooping at the back of other people's LCDs, I saw a chap poking through a gap in the top wires whilst standing inside the lower fence when I was taking these - shooting portrait as they were running up to the kerbs on the exit of stirlings - could have been you?

Ahh I used to have an old 75-300 IS, seems to get slated but usually seemed to work quite well for me

I didn't venture over to Stirlings... but I was tippy-toeing through the top of the fence wires on exit of Surtees (where I snapped the wheely shot from). Did a few portrait shots but found it showed too much ugly foreground and background so switched back to standard
