Hi 0 I was wondering. If I buy and use a cheap thrid party cable release could it cause any damage to my camera. The price difference is £5 delivered from eBAY - £30 for UK! It would be for my 5D - thanks

I've bought 2 of the ebay cheapies. One for my 30D, the other for my fiance's 350D. My one lasted maybe 30 clicks and then it failed. Just doesn't trigger the shutter any more. Don't know if anything is loose or whatever inside. My fiance's never even worked for the first click.

I bought the genuine Canon one and it's worked like a trooper ever since. Much better build quality too, as you'd expect.

I have read that others have had much better experiences than mine, no problems at all. Just passing on my 100% fail record.

Are the ones that PTON sells able to be shipped over there? They are pretty cheep, and support PTON.

You hit the nail right on the head when you said "cheap cable release." What you're going to get is just exactly that... A cheap cable release. You might as well get the good one right off the bat because you're going to end up buying it in the end. Get it now and save yourself the time, aggravation and money the cheap one is going to cost you.

Isn't there a forum member here that makes them? I forgot who it is but he is a pretty active poster I thought.

Gear- Why do you care? If my image is good it's good, if it sucks it sucks. It's most likely my own fault.

TMRDesigns does - they're for sale in the POTN Shop (link at the top of every page).

I'd much rather get the original Canon version from One Stop for £29.

I guess you're right - let's face it £29 isn't even half a tank of petrol these days! ;)
