The L-358 can also be bought with the built-in PW transmitter, just in case that's the one feature that you must have. If so, but you don't need the rest, well... you can save your money.

(Not disagreeing with you, Robert, merely pointing out things I forgot to mention earlier :) ).

Rudi,

I know that. I was just pointing out that it's built in to the L-758DR whereas it's a $50 option on the L-358.

It's important for potential buyers to know these things. For instance, if you were going to get an L-358 but wanted the Pocket Wizard module and the spot metering attachment you're already well on your way to the cost of an L-758DR. Also, if you plan on doing reflective spot metering the attachment is downright inconvenient and the meter will not fit in the case with it mounted. On top of that, the L-358 makes you swap the dome for the disk to take reflective readings. I owned an L-358 and hated that aspect of it and the fact that it was a loose piece made it a potentially looseable (not a word, I know) item. I was always swapping and found it silly that the case did not have a pocket or some way to store or transport whichever attachment was not in use.

There.. I said it. :D

Thanks guys. I don't see the need for spot right now. Concerning the reflective metering needing to swap a part on the L-358 I will only be doing incident so I think I will save the money for now and pass on the L-758DR. Next year I will find some reason to need it though

Cool. At least you had all the facts presented and can make an intelligent, well informed decision.

Agh, the need to swap the disk is the one thing that really, really irks me. They even put a seemingly random sleeve on the side of the case (is this supposed to be for a spare battery, maybe) that won't fit the disk :/

Mine's been in a drawer ever since I bought the meter several years ago! I put it on once, tried it, took it off and put it inside the drawer. That's how often I use the meter for reflected light metering... :)
