Calling all Jpeg Shooters!!!

Its time to let your images SHINE!!!

I would like to see a consensus of Jpeg SHOTS...I've seen some really good ones in the past few months and I need a little more convincing to stay with it or go RAW...

I enjoy the shooting part and and enjoy the PP part of it...But I don't think I want to START all over again and go through the LEARNING CURVE of using a RAW CONVERTER and learning the NEW process all over again...I know full well the advantages of RAW and have recently done much research but I can't seem to find it in me to go through another LEARNING CURVE as I ain't no computer savvy guy to say the least!...

Please post some INCREDIBLE IMAGES captured in Jpeg and your own PP talent to perfect the complete image...I would HATE to go over to RAW...If I can see some SHARP/CRISP Jpeg shot images I'd rather perfect my skills in trying to do it as well in Jpeg format!!!....I am just a hobbyist and desire great images captured in Jpeg I guess,,,Different Strokes for different folks...I guess...Please help...I'm troubled with the DEBATE...But I know it can be done...I've seen a few now I just NEED MORE!!!HELP:cool:

Well if you looking to see the clarity of others jpeg's heres one of mine... I picked this one because of its sharpness and definition... (his face, trucks and shoes)... I like you didnt feel I needed to use RAW... well I've gone to the dark side and started shooting in raw+jpeg... you do have much more control with your exposure and other seting when using RAW... plus if you use progs like lightroom it really shows how much control you have over the image in raw... well anyway here is the JPEG shot...

Thanks for the photo...Great image and capture...But for what I do and working with a less than capable BRAIN I hope that others too might be able to SWAY me by the Jpeg shots...I'm looking for some CRISP and SHARP images from people who have taken the image EXPOSED correctlt and have had at it with their PP skills and PLUG-INS , i.e., NEAT IMAGE, NOISE NINJA, and PHOTO-SHARP KIT and the like...

I just can't see myself figuring it all-out all over again after I just learned PP in CS2...I'm working with a BRAIN that has limitations and not afraid of admitting it...:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I've seen some incredible images in Jpeg here over the past few months and now that I'm finally contemplating the PLUNGE to the DARK-SIDE I just would like to make sure that I really need it as the type of hobbyist HAM that I am...:D

Great image and thanks for contributing as it helps a lot!!!:D

that photo had a little over an hour of PP put into it... including Noise Ninja, lots of color correcting and isolated sharpening... only thing I didnt work on was the ugly shadow under the board....

Not saving much time by shooting jpg. If you are shooting both at the same time you are using more memory and cache. It is a nice shot but why not just shoot RAW? Not like it is hard to post process.

I shoot JPG about 98% of the time. A friend shoots Dodger, and San Diego padre games w/ JPG. She said about 80% of the pro shooters she knows use JPG on a regular basis? Here are a few...

I don't blame you for using jpeg, they are smaller images (more room in buffer and on CF card), no decision making (camera does it all), just all around easier.

It's really tough to learn ACR, don't bother with it.

The reason I shoot jpegs 95% of the time because I'm a lazy prat.. I prefer to do everything in camera and not in front of a computer screen..

The only post processing was a little cropping..

If you know what you do, jpg or raw serve you equally well.

What do you use your images for? There isn't too much quality difference between the jpeg and raw files, and unless you are pushing the limits of how tightly you can crop or how large a print you can make then it might not be worth it.

IMO there is an enormous difference due to compression.
Every time you edit and save a jpg, you lose something. I think this is the most compelling reason for shooting RAW. You can do your edits and crank out countless jpgs and never lose anything.
If your shots are all just for fun, it doesn't matter. If you need to keep them you are much better off shooting RAW. Memory is cheap and so is computer power.
I remember an article some years ago in BYTE magazine arguing that a home desktop computer would never be available for less than $1000. That is laughable now.

Jpeg files out of the camera don't change as long as you don't save over them.
I think this idea of continuous loss of image when you use a jpeg is a conspiracy, brought about by RAW users who "Must" find a reason to tell everyone why they won't shoot anything else.

My images are primarily for my own enjoyment...I have several that I would like to put up for prints on an online photo STOCK page but not many...

GEEZ some of these images here are pretty SHARP and CLEAN...:D

I'm definitely INTIMIDATED by having to LEARN RAW and to be honest I really don't think I want to or need to at this point!

I think I can come up with some great photos in Jpeg...The photos here are quite GOOD in my opinion...I think I need to post some images soon tho see if its user error or novice PP work or both!...I'll post in a few hours!

In the meantime more photos please!!!

booju,
I shoot 99% jpeg only and with hundreds of prints of 11 x 14" and larger I can say I have been very happy with them (and so have many others). :)
Here are some recent photos ;)
