Hi All,

My tripod has been broken for around a year, and I haven't got another one since....

However, yesterday (because I wanted to make a light box) i figured out the bit that is broken actually just unscrews and I could replace the entire part (can't believe I haven't tried that before).

However, I have looked on the Jessops website and can't find a replacement anywhere...

Any suggestions?

My suggestion would be to get a decent tripod...

As demonstrated by breaking, this isn't the best around.

^^ +1 There's a reason why "good" tripods are a bit more expensive...this is one of them.

Only thing that I can suggest in the interim is to try your local hardware store and see if they have some liquid metal epoxy. Sorry...don't know the name of any off the top of my head.

I would not trust my EOS equipment to a tripod like that, even if it had not broken. I would not trust any adhesive-type repair of that tripod for any camera that I was fond of. My suggestion is to trash the whole thing and get a decent tripod.

I found out years ago that trying to save a little money by buying inexpensive (read cheap) equipment just doesn't pay off in the long run. This is nowehere more apparant than in tripods.

I'd chalk that one up to experience and get a good Manfrotto, Gitzo or Giottos tripod instead.

I have a velbon CX560 which I have been using for 6 years. I'm waiting for it to break so I have a reason to buy a manfrotto but it hasn't.. yet...

I agree with the above comments, and I think its time to get a good replacement as replacing the broken part will almost cost you the same as the tripod.

My thoughts exactly.... Any tripod that breaks period is one you should have replaced with a better one a long time ago!

Thanks for the reply all.

I should mention that the tripod broke on a flight to South Africa. It was supposed to have gone on as hand luggage, but they wouldn't let me. So instead they put it through the conveyor and the top snapped off somewhere in transit.

However, I will be doing some research into a decent tripod!
