Dominion Building

The Dominion Building is another of my favorite buildings we have here in Vancouver.

It's unfortunate that the bottom frame is slicing right through the foundation of the building. A little more of the street in the foreground would help give the building a better base.

The texture and range of tones in the sky and building are very good and are what make the picture.

Here is one with a little more foreground, but more keystoning. Which outweighs which?

I like the tones in #2 better; the foreground is more needed as well, I think. Too bad that car pulled up; otherwise you wouldn't have much idea what year that was shot (except I can see Met Home there )

I like the second shot better as well...

Thanks for the feeback everyone. It would appear that a complete foreground outweighs converging verticals. In my haste to get a version with foreground in it posted I also forgot to correct the barrel distortion at 24mm. I think I'll correct that, and throw the corrected version on my gallery.

Love the colour version, the phone wires don't have such an impact when its lit up like that.

Those are actually electric trolley lines. I did struggle with the idea of cloning them out or not, but ultimately I felt they are part of the scene here in the Vancouver downtown core. You can't go anywhere without the lines overhead.

I do see where you're coming from though. Reducing their impact is a good thing
