That football looks funny. Distorted by the lens? And, where's the line of scrimmage?

(Just kidding)

Do you like using the 800? How would you compare it to the 600 for feel/size/weight and, in general, results?

What no shots of the mighty cats:lol: Oh well a shot of Aker will have to do.
Nice shots, how far away from the action were you when you took these?

Cheers

Thanks. Right on the sideline - probably 50-80m away.

I love the background blur on those images!

What settings were you using, seems like a mid afternoon game.

If Im honest, I dont really like those. I dont know if its just the obviously garish afternoon sun or something else, but picture-wise these dont really do it for me.

How did you like the lens though? Did it perform well? Any better than a 400 with a 2x?

Agree with Angela. They don't seem like what I would expect from 800mm f5.6. 800mm is too much IMHo for soccer, I use 500mm f4 IS and find it bit long. 400mm f2.8 is idela, IMHO.

Agree, my mistake

But something is off IMHO. I could be the haze at large distance with longer focal length.

lol I think they are a little dark to be honest, plus the sun looks to be almost down so harsh side shadows are showing.

ISO 100, 1/1,000s @ f/5.6. A couple at ISO 800 when the clouds came over.

AFL is played on a field about three times the size of a soccer field. 400 is like a wide-angle.

So you're saying you wouldn't shoot the game simply because the light is crap? Some of us don't have a choice.

I liked the lens, it allowed me to capture parts of the game I normally couldn't. Better than a 400/2.8 IS for sure.
