custom made light box?

My wife had this "tent" thing on the back deck. I say had because of the storm last night. I don't know anything about lighting. I wish you could see my 2 week old baby picture attempt from yesterday. After looking at it (the tent), I got to thinking someone with some ingenuity could make some kind of nice light box of sorts from the fabric as well as the frame. The wife said "there goes that 50 bucks." So unless she was trying to fake me on the actual cost, it might be a good thing to buy for such a project. I'm asking. I think the tubing is a light steel not aluminum. I didn't try the magnet test.

If the tent is already broke, no reason not to try and make a light box from it...

shine a light through the fabric and see if it doesnt block out to much of the light (I think thats what the tent was made for, blocking light) and try to make a frame out of the tubing...

they actually work quite well when assembled as a giant softbox. I suppose you could enclose the sides somehow for a huge light box.
