I know they're just gulls, but thought I'd share a few BIF shots from a recent cruise we took in Svalbard. These were taken off the side of the ship, it was very overcast and snowing off and on. This was my first real attempt at BIF shots other than playing with a bird feeder in the backyard, so I've lots to learn for sure. C&C appreciated.

1. Kittiwake

3. Juvenile Glaucus Gull (I think)

You manage to capture the "Just Gulls" in flight wonderfully... I mean look at the #1 and 2, just gorgeous... Nicely done...

Thanks for the nice comments. It was very exciting for me, because the 40D was new and I didn't have any experience with birds. I think my keeper rate was less than 10%, but I can't wait to spend some time in Florida and try my luck there. I spend hours here just looking at what the talented folks can do.

Excellent series...and these are far from 'just gulls'! Kittiwakes are lovely little pelagic gulls, true 'sea-gulls' if you will, and they are on my 'must see' list! The juvenile is a Glaucous-winged Gull and the last seems to be an adult Glaucous (or Iceland) Gull as well.
