Hello,

I've searched the forum but haven't found the answer to my question.

When exporting in LR, there is the option to "Add Copyright Watermark". When I check this, my name is included in the exported photograph's lower left corner.

Can I set up LR to automatically add the copyright symbol, year the picture was taken, and the copyright holder's name when exporting with LR? (I don't have photoshop.)

Example: "© 2008. Fred Blogs."

Thanks,
~ Dom

You can change the content of that copyright notice to whatever you like.

For existing photos, select them in Grid view and then type in the Metadata panel copyright section. For the © symbol, you want Alt-0-1-6-9 on Windows or Opt-G on Mac. And you could filter by year if you want to add the date too.

To automatically add it to new photos, set up a Metadata Preset in that Metadata panel and apply it in the Import dialog.

Thanks Victoria. I have followed your instructions and they do work.

Is there a way that LR can read from the metadate the year the picture was taken , and then have LR use that info to automatically enter the year in the copyright watermark? This would be useful if importing a folder of pictures which don't have the year they were taken in the filename.

Not at the moment, but that sounds like a good feature request. Here's the form: Official Feature Request/Bug Report Form (external link)

Workaround in the meantime - filter using the Metadata filters and apply one year at a time.
