Hello everyone

I'm pondering about what I'd like to do next summer - a mission if you will.

I've long wanted to spend some time in Provence during prime lavender and sunflower season. I then thought, well, why not combine this with having a tutor/taking some photo classes while I am there? Provence would be great, but a week or two in Paris first, taking classes, with a jaunt down to Provence afterwards would be great too. Obviously the timing would need to be July-ish.

I also notice that the Tour de France always seems to have stunning photos of riders near the flower fields, if you've ever experienced that I'd love to hear about it too.

Are there any photo classes in France you would recommend?

Hi skywalkerbeth

Have a look at the Ariege, breathtaking scenery at every turn, the diversity of photographic opportunities is near limitless, this a place for true sport enthusiasts, the Tour comes through here every year, and the sunflowers are in full bloom at the moment.

The midi Pyrenees mountain range is stunning, two hours from the east cost, three and a bit from the west coast. For me, this is the last real undiscovered department of France.

The cost of holidaying here is also not too be missed, one of the best value for money.

Let me know what your after in terms of tuition and I'll have a chat with a few local courses.

Thank you Steve!

Would you believe I have never heard of Ariege before - for all that I've been to France close to a dozen times?

I am intrigued.

How far from the Dordogne is it? (another area I have not visited...)

It's not too far, around 3hrs 20mns ish, but depends where you land.

If you base yourself in Foix, you will be around 1hr from anywhere you need to go.

I'm currently setting up a web site that covers the Ariege and surrounding departments, it covers all sporting activities, local information on events, an arts section, which lists all local photographers :) as well as painters, sculptors and the like, best deals on accommodation, blah blah.

I'll send you a link when we are live. Look into the Ariege, it well worth the effort.

Send me a PM If I can help out in anyway.

Steve
