Is this worth devoting any more time on.
I have cropped about 1/3 away from the left side leaving a square crop.

Be advised that there is a lot of compression issues herein.

Be hyper critical please.

you like playing around with this photo huh? i've seen several instances of it already. :)

i don't know enough to really critique, but two things that jump out at me right away are that the two left birds are touching. i would prefer them to be a bit further apart. and second, all three poses of the bird are almost exactly the same. i think it would look better with three different poses. it would make it look like it is really flying away and not like you took the same pic and copied and pasted.

It is a nice job chauncey. I have the same complaints as the previous poster but I don't know how you would control that.

These are from a series I shot this morning, in this instance the right two were photomerged in PS and the left one was cloned in, in the correct spot.

More I look at it, the suckier it gets. Suckier...that a word.?

the middle bird looks out of place and is touching the other one. there should be some pattern with the wings, so if their up in bird 1 + 3 they should be down on bird 2 + 4 otherwise it looks like the bird is jumping and not flying.

It might be a terrible picture the way that I have screwed it up. But...

The three base images show exactly the same thing in exactly the positions shown in this merged image.

The Great Blue iniates flight from a stable object by "jumping" or "launching" itself into the air.
The forth and sixth image in this series of ten were for some reson OOF.

Turn the fps to slow mode next time. It might give you the timing you want. You could make a variable interval remote with a handful of parts.

Step one would be to get the specs of the remote switching scheme. I am not sure how the focus deal is handled. I have seen plans for a remote that someone else built so that part should be easy. In fact, I'm sure you could figure it out with an existing remote and a meter.
You would then design a circuit that allowed you to infinitely modify the length of time between shots with a potentiometer. A 555 timer (small, cheap, integrated circuit) would be an ideal device for this. If you use this device, make sure you ground all unused inputs or you will get weird stuff. The timer would periodically close a relay. You could calibrate the device through trial and error.
