I have an A75, and it just started to make wierd lens noises a couple days ago. I bought this in june 2004.

I took some pictures in macro mode for the first time a few days ago, before the noises appeared, and now, my lens is making weird noises while turning on, off, and zooming out from an object. I noticed that macro mode caused the camera to make more lens adjustments. So I don't know if my camera is busted because of that.

If you listen to the attached mp3 files below, you will hear a relatively louder BZZZZZT sound. It has a louder vibration sound. sometimes it goes BZZZZT-BZZZZZT.... like a zoom farting noise.
Trust me, I've never heard this sound before. And like other people, I've never dropped or bumped this camera.

(Ok. below are the sound bites. To download, RIGHT click the underlined, save target as....)
This is the sound while turning off the camera. (external link) Notice how there is a quick BZZZT-BZZZT right after I push the power off button.

Here I am zooming in and out several times. After I zoom all the way in, then zoom out a tad, it goes BZZZZT. (external link).... kinda like the power-off sound. I am zooming in and out so that you can hear what it normally sounds like. Half the zoom noises in this sound bite are abnormal. I am sure you can tell which ones are abnormal and which ones aren't...

This is the sound when turning on the camera. (external link)

My camera still works as of today, but I bet this camera will die soon. I've only taken 500 photos total since june 2004. It's a little too early to die don't you think....

what do you guys think of all of this?

You might consider blowing some compressed air in around the edges of the lens mechanism to loosen/remove any particles that may be causing the onset of some problems. It may help or it may not.
