Guys, not sure what I am doing. Not sure how to shrink the size of the photos so they just show up. I just got a camera, and really just pointing and shooting, but am interested in any comments I can get

Just got a 40d, but really need to take some classes, since I have no clue what I am doing.
I had the aforementioned 40d and was using a canon 28-90, and a quantaray 70-300, chiefs pictures were just taken from my seat or walking around the track trying for autographs, although I was having lens envy based on the giants I was sitting around.
Need all the help I can get.
