Hello all! I hope this is the section to post introductions. I didn't see any, so this seemed to be the best place. MODS: Is there an "INTRODUCTION section/thread for new members? If not, can we get one started? That way, we can introduce ourselves. Where from, equipment used, how we got started, maybe some initial pics or self-portraits, etc. Just a suggestion....
I would have been a member about 30 minutes ago, however, it took me about 20 minutes to find a "Desired User Name" that wasn't already registered, and then another 10 minutes to decipher those jumbled letters and actually get one right!
Ok, so about me? Well, you may have already formulated the Maxxum5 User Name with Konica-Minolta. And yes, you are absolutley correct! But, I was referred to this website as a great way to learn more about photography and well, they weren't kidding! I am very impressed with the topics, discussions, contests, and submissions. There are so many talented folks on this site.
So, besides using a Konica-Minolta Maxxum5 dSLR, I love photography and I am looking to get into a little more beyond the "serious hobbyist" venture. But after seeing some of these photo submission, I think I have plenty more to learn.
My equipment is a little dated, but it is still taking acceptable (by my standards) photos. Equipment is Konica-Minolta Maxxum5 dSLR with standard 18-70mm, 70-300mm and just recently added on a Konica-Minolta f1.7 50mm lens. TAMRAC backpack, and the standard filters: UV, Circular Polarizing, Warming, 812, etc. However, I am seriously considering the Canon EOS 40D, but knowing my luck, as soon as I place an order, the 50D will be announced.
Well, in a nutshell, I have been interested in photography since I was a kid. Always trying to outdo my Mom with her Kodak 110. And ever since, I been taking photos as a serious hobbyist. Not necessarily choosing any one area subject of interest, but anything and everything! So, with that being said....Here are a few of my favorite pics along the way. Go easy on the "outsider" jokes just because I don't have Canon equipment. Like you, I love photography...and that's all that matters, right?
Now, my 1st question on the forum is....How do I calibrate my monitor? I do not have a home based printer. But if I were to use Photoshop CS3, how do I know when I post process images that what I see is what I or they will get?
Have a GREAT day folks!
