Mike,

I like the 2nd version. The font for "attack" and "defend"
is a little bit 70's ish. I think there are better choices. Otherwise
looks pretty good.

One other tip, sometimes magazine pages or print ads are laid
out in a Z pattern. Supposedly, it mimics the way that a readers
eye scans the page. If you get shots where the body is angled
slightly diagonal as the middle line in the letter Z, it may create
a nice look.

One effect that you may like to try is making the head of the main subject clightly overlap the header ...... you see a lot of big magazines do this .... just a thought ..... but it looks fantastic!

I did that before in my old design and liked it, when I get home will play around a little more with this and see what I can do once the season ends and I have time on my hands. May design a diff. one for football season shoudl the need arise, sometimes noone orders these and sometimes they do.

If anyone knows any text names to try out I'm all ears, selecting text for me sucks...I never know what to choose and have a few hundred.

I've heard the z-pattern before but never saw it layed out or put any mind to it. Will have to start looking and seeing if I notoice it. I know up to the right is a mind thing they say.

Here's what gets me with all of these...The text for the name of the Magazine is too small!! I understand what you're trying to do...but without cutting off the text with the head it will stay a little behind the "Pro" look...
