A couple of Damsel flies from the London Wetlands Center, shots taken with a 70-300 IS USM, moderate cropping.

I know the first one looks like it could do with a bit more noise reduction and the focus is a bit out on the 2nd...

Does anyone have any other comments?

The first one is a dragon fly...and the second is surely a damsel. Nice first captures, and I beleive you've already told your tale. Maybe try opening up the lens to f/11, and use some diffused flash...might help a little.
