This picture is really ugly in color, but a little more interesting in B&W.

For reference, these I-Beams are about 12" tall.

Heavy duty stuff! Nice to take a closer look at these and see the artistic side of I-beams. I like these - but I definitely have had my fill of rust colored beams - congrats for using b/w.

I like it.

Is there somebody standing in the back? (on the left side of the picture)

I could almost swear I see a pair of legs.

Belmondo, can you give us the run down on the processing of this shot. I do like the clarity and lack of noise. Am I right in thinking you have selected one channel in PS? Would appreciate knowing your workflow on this.

The picture was already pretty contrasty to start. I used Channel Mixer with the monochrome box checked. I just kept fiddling with the sliders until I got close to the look I wanted. I then fine-tuned it in curves. The whole thing took maybe 5 minutes.

Are these the same I-beams you were hanging upside down from when you took the picture for your new avatar?

Not sure why, but I keep coming back to this picture. It is becoming a favorite. Usually like stuff right away. Excellent work. It is the kind of image that belongs on the wall.
