Taken at Oshkosh on "gray Thursday". I know there should be more prop blur, I hadn't ever shot the Osprey before and didn't realize how slow the props were spinning and adjust accordingly until it was too late:cry:. C & C always welcome and appreciated, thanks for looking!

nice shots. I didn't realize how slow they were either. Pretty sure I would down to 1/80 or 1/60. And HUGE.. My goodness those props are ginormous in the sky.

Thanks! Yeah, those props were HUGE, you really don't see it until it's flying horizontally toward you, then...WOW! I started at 1/320 and eventually worked down to 1/125, but should've gone futher.

We had crowd problems both days there (last year, no problems, this year, both days:evil:), we were getting jostled around a bit on Thursday and the distraction made me pay less attention to the shutter speed than I should have.

Thank you!

I agree, I don't know if I'd like to fly in one either. As a retired Navy veteran I know said about them, "they don't really fly, it's all done with mirrors":p

You did well , I can imagine it is a hard aircraft to photograph while flying, I have yet to see it do a demo.

Nice job! Very nice pics despite the dreary conditions.

Nice pics, prop blur isn't too bad.

With the history of this plane, I don't think I'd want to be near it when it's in the air. ;)

Thank you for the kind comments everyone! Gray planes on a gray day don't usually add up to interesting photos, but I'd never seen an Osprey in person before so I shot it anyway. Those props are so big, they look like they're going slow enough to count the rotations:-)

they're not slow, where'd you get that from? 275 knots? slow? thats 316 mph. Faster than helicopters...

Great pics!

Thanks! and sorry, I didn't mean to say the Osprey was slow. The rotors are so big, they look like they're turning slowly...makes it hard to get prop blur and a sharp image.
