How can I make this?

I want to make a splatter paint backdrop for a back to school thing this weekend. I already have the muslin for it, I just need to know how to do it. Do I water paints down, use fabric paints? Does anyone know a good way to do this?

59 views and no suggestions yet? Truth is, I doubt many make their own, Kim - but if you're anywhere near a craft store or fabric/craft place I'd probably call them and ask about it. The clerks are usually really great at sharing their collective wisdom from similar craft projects.

Though I don't have plans to make one ... I'd be interested to hear how it's done as well. Best wishes!

Jason Pollock used household enamel paint.

I used fabric dye and a brush. Rolled the muslin out on the lawn and went to work. Splashed, sprayed, dripped, drizzled, then threw it all away and bought one. I did not find it as easy as one would think.

I ended up making tie dyed ones. They look awesome, I cant wait to use them. I tried splattering dye onto it in different ways and that one didnt turn out, so I will remove the color and try again with paint.. I am big on DIY and the tie dyed ones turned out great!!

I did a shower curtain for my kids... I'll shoot a photo of it when I get home.

I used fabric paint (it can be washed) and the kids dipped their hands and feet in paint and walked and pushed their hands on it, I put eyelets in it to hang it, and it has lasted for many, many years. The hand and footprints are now memories of when they were little.

It was fun. I once thought about creating one with primary colors to use as a backdrop for little kid photos. Now you've got me thinking of it again...

Thanks alot, I messed up one of my backdrops, so I may be able to do this to cover up some of the mess up.. I will have to try the fabric paint. Did you water it down any?

No. Just followed the directions on the paint container. The type I bought was ready to use right out of the bottle. Don't ask what it was, as I couldn't tell you. My oldest was about 7 and my younger was about 2, and now my oldest is driving...

Darn... I suddenly feel OLD.

Oh, well, time to go to DQ, a little ice cream makes everyone young again!
