I've never heard of Cybersyncs. I have Skyports as I didn't need the range of PWs (and I couldn't afford them).

how do those connect to the flash?

can someone tell me how a flash would connect to this?

when i click the link, i see two units, but they both look like they are the transmitters for the camera.

They are both transmitter or receivers (Transceivers). One goes into the camera hotshoe, and one is connected to the flash with a PC cord. If the flash doesn't have a built in PC connection, you add a little adapter to the flash hotshoe.

Here is a thread with photos (using different brand of triggers) https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=538304

Yes. The 580EX II is very a capable flash. It has so many features, or options, it can be used with almost ANY camera ever made. The only thing it is missing is an optical slave receiver. (Some other brands include this)

And if, like me, you have a short aggravation point, I'd suggest Cybersyncs over the eBay triggers. More money than the cheapies, a whole lot less than the PW and Skyports, with the same reliability if not range.

Why would anyone want to fire a flash 1600 feet away?

I've seen a wildlife photographer set the flash in a tree along a game trail and then set up a couple hundred yards away with a telephoto lens. He got some nice shots that way.

yeah, that would be a great idea....

i think the engineers designed it for a reason to work at 1600'

i'd like to see some of those pics.

I didn't see it mentioned so sorry if repeating but when you buy your pc cord..go straight to flash zebra and get the screw in cord. You'd be very surprised how unreliable a cheap sync cord is as well.

Cheers

I would suggest a sigma 500 super dg flash. I just sold one here for 145 delivered. served me very well with my 430 ex. For that price with your 580 ex set up, you get two flashes, ett-l metering, and you can always sell if for little loss if you choose to upgrade. If you are in portrait photography, having the two lights will be very nice. In addition it even functions as an optical slave. bought mine for 150, sold it 1.5 years later for 145, lost 15 bucks when all was said and done. I bought a pair of alien bees instead
