HI everyone. I am 17, and I just got into DSLR photography with a 400D and the kit lens. I love night and candid photography, so as a result I need a good tripod that will be able to deliver sharp images at any condition with the 70-200 that I will soon have. After a long search and much thinking I have decided to buy one professional big tripod. The reasons for this are two. FIrstly, I have always been aggravated by the 2 cheap and small tripods that I have, and now I want the real thing. Secondly, I do not know what I will be into in a few years, and I want something that will not have to be replaced because of its inability to fulfill my future needs. So, I would have bought a nice Gitzo with a giant ballhead by now, but I do not have the money because of my age. But since I am 17, I also do not have to worry about some extra pounds of equipment. So, I would like to ask you if you are aware of any tripod manufacturer that is more concerned about the sturdiness of the tripod then the weight of it. I don't need fancy carbon fiber (even though it is sturdy) or shaky aluminium, since I am not concerned about weight. So, if you know any cheaper stainless steel tripods or anything similar, please let me and anyone else concerned know.
Thank you all in advance.

If weight is not a concern, I would suggest you look at Berlebach wood tripods. They are rock steady. A Reporter 8023 would be a great choice.

I do not think you can get much better than the Manfrotto 055XPRO B as a good all round sturdy tri-pod. If taken care of it will last you for years.

Manfrotto makes some very beefy tripods, intended tor use with heavy cameras (such as 4x5 monorail view cameras that weigh 15 lbs). For example, the 3036 tripod which used to be offered

If you have a 3036/475 tripod and a Usb attached P-touch label machine I created a label that allows you to open all the legs to the same angle. I have the label file so just PM me your email if you want it.

You may not be concerned about weight, but I'd still suggest a good Bogen/Manfrotto aluminum pod. Get a 3 section for better stability if you need it. Wood tripods are very good too but come with their own complications like any other tripod and while I've used one I'll stick with carbon fiber for now.

What exactly is your budget though?
