Nesta Oil Rally Finland

Had the pleasure of spending a few days over in Finland for what surely is the worlds fastest rally ... the speed has to be seen to be beleived.

I've finally managed to sort a few photos out ...

Very good mix Jay,but very much enjoyed the website photos.
You love that fisheye ! ,not convinced I do so much,but the people shots are my favourites.
I am probably getting bored with action shots of cars.

They had a problem with the radio-connection at the finish of the last stage, so they apparently fell back on phone-radio...

@Jay: nice pictures. I had a look through the other pictures on your site and really like the variety you put into it; not just car's sliding around but some very nice atmosphere shots as well.

at a side note; I noticed a picture on your site from the 2007 Deutschland Rallye which tells me you were within 10 metres of me... (this one ). Were you the guy with 2 camera's of wich one was standing on a small tripod on the right-outside of the hairpin? And are you going to Germany again next week?

I try to capture the feeling of each event ... I find it much more interesting that just taking photos of cars.

I dont think I was the guy you are referring to, I didnt have any sort of accreditation last year ... a marshall let me take one photo from that point then moved me to the designated speccy point

Yeah I'll be in Germany next week ... driving over on Wednesday with BigAnt. Are you going again?

I had the same problem, but I put my camera on the ground and used a remote control so I could fire the camera from a safer distance. The marshall was ok with that.

Yep, I'll be there, arriving at service around noon on Thursday (skipping shakedown this year).

Jay, I always look forward to seeing your 'non-action' shots for want of a better term. That last shot in the series is an absolute stunner; it captures the very essence of being a rally spectator - I had goosebumps looking at it! It just makes you ache to be there.
