I played with one of these (external link) the other day and they are so tiny and light! Haven't seen anything about them so thought I'd ask before I jumped in.

My laptop died a screaming death a couple of weeks ago while I was on holidays so a portable backup drive is on my get list before my next overseas trip in October.

BTW- Palo Alto's Frys had the 500 for $170 a couple of days ago even though the web site said $199 and out of stock...

I don't know much of anything about that particular brand, but "tiny and light" isn't specific to that brand. My Western Digital laptop hard drive in a generic (eBay) enclosure is also tiny and light...not much bigger than the hard drive itself.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

Tiny and light are essential for what I need but I have no brand loyalty. I was initially thinking of the Western Digital Passport, but it's bigger and heavier than these are...

There are different kinds of WD Passports though. Some are desktop drives and some are laptop drives. Some of the laptop drives are smaller than others. This one (external link) is about the same size as mine, and it's easily pocketable...I brought mine home in my casual slacks' front pocket. It's barely larger than the drive itself.

I have the WD Passport 250gb and i store my files on it. Its handy to have and easy to put into your pocket. I also have the WD 750gb desktop model.
The place i use to work had the BUffalo TeraStation, it had 4 hard drives in it working in may different Raids.
