what mac do you have? all current gen macs are basically PCs with OSX installed.

Newegg and Crucial both have ram selection systems where you enter in your system model and they show you compatible RAM. I suspect others such as Kingston offer that as well but I don't recall.

I got mine from Crucial. Great price and quick shipping.

Get your memory from OWC (http://www.macsales.com (external link)). Excellent products and excellent prices. Can't be beat, in my opinion. I have 8 GB of their DDR2 ECC FB-DIMM memory in my Mac Pro and have zero complaints or issues as a result.

Not entirely true. I could install off-the-shelf memory in my MacBook Pro, sure, but my Mac Pro takes specific memory that can't be bought just anywhere.

Crucial's fine but watch Newegg for deals on other RAM just as good or Better.

Corsair and OCZ are both excellent, and I have good luck with Kingston as well.

And yes, Crucial is tops too. You can usually save a bit though with other brands from Newegg. Corsair Value series is my favorite.

I'm saving this thread for when the mac fanboys go on about how cheap their stuff is compared to buying a PC...

Alas, that's only true when Apple first comes out with a new product. I hesitated buying the Mac Pro a year ago when they were stell relatively new because RAM memory cost so much for them. Now, they aren't as expensive which makes the Mac Pro much more appealing than before. :)

No, wait a year after a new Apple computer product comes out. The Mac Pro is no longer a new product now. :)
Of course, that doesn't mean that Apple can't come out with a Mac Pro which uses the latest and greatest Intel chip which requires an even faster and newer memory chip which could then, again, cost an arm and leg to get.
