i'd wait for a closeout on the p3000 and if you need more storage you can upgrade the HD :D.

I love my 3000 but no way I'd pay this much for one of these devices.

true. i'd be looking at one of the small laptops.

Im not really into voiding warrenties, if I have something after that date is up I would mod it then but not before.

I having been looking at these storage devices for about a year now, and I wanna get the best I can afford. From my research I gathered that the Epson was the best model for my needs, so I will probably go with the P-6000 (after the hype and price die down a bit) 80GB should be plenty for temporary storage. Or who knows maybe I will find a good deal on a already modded P-3000 (hint, hint) and will get that ;)

when i picked mine up for $208 after double epson rebates i had a feeling that epson would soon be releasing new models. lets face it 40 gigs just too small these days.

Yeah,

I was in the market for that kind of storage devices, I'll wait a bit, the prices of the p-3000 an p-5000 will certainly decrease, and make them more affordable for me.

That's a good news :-D

Laurent.

If you are looking for an Epson, hang around over in the Marketplace. Folks will be soon selling their P-3000s and P-5000s to fund purchases of P-6000s and P-7000s. :)

I love my P-3000, but I think I will hang with it for a while as opposed to paying those prices for a 6000 or 7000.

I have the p3000 and it is enough for my purposes. I bought when the rebates were going on so the cost was not that much. If I am going to spend $800 then I am just going to get a laptop. The laptop would at least be more useful and versatile.

I had an Epson and it worked well. But in the end I sold it and picked up a used small Sony Vaio laptop with an 11" screen for about the same price. Faster, 4 times the storage, the 11" screen is actually useful for making quality decisions, I can fire up Lightroom or PS if needed, and it sends mails, browses the internet, etc. Its bigger, but far more useful in the field than the Epson it replaced.
